Greenfield Conservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
October 13, 2004
Attendees: Karen Day, Ray Cilley, Neal Brown, & Roger Lessard
We discussed the status of the Fletcher/Holden Rd property. Mrs. Spaulding claims that she owns it. Ray checked the town file and there is a question of ownership. A 1993 letter from Saxton Fletcher states that 2 people were paying taxes on the same lot. The ConCom has agreed to suspend activity on the sign project until this matter is resolved.
We discussed the budget for 2005.
Karla would like more money due to increased demand for her services. Karen suggested $3000 per year. Neal proposed $1000 base plus so much for each site visit. We discussed the possibility of separating her funding from our budget. Karen will contact Karla to request documentation. Ray suggested that she prepare a forester’s report that would appear in the town report. The cost of her services is recovered through timber tax.
We discussed lake monitoring. Proposed dropping from $500 to $200. Neal stated that he’s working on establishing a lake association at Sunset.

NRI: Can we use the UNH students for a project in conjunction with the planning board. The application is due by November or December. Karen noted that the NRI maps are lacking in detail. Ray proposed that students could tweak them to make them more useful. Karen proposed that they study steep slopes and/or wetland buffers to help the planning board with their decisions.
Rotation for attending planning board meetings: Karen will attend the next one. We will informally rotate attendance for meetings with wetlands concerns.
Landscaping plants for the historical society: Trees? Lilacs: Ray suggested having someone draw up a landscape plan before deciding what to purchase. Ray will contact Sara Timmons about this matter.
Annual meeting: 3 attendees? We have two vacancies on the board that we need to fill. Karen said that she may know someone who is interested.
We discussed the Jerry Adams easement and having it surveyed
Ray asked what we have in our conservation fund. We currently have $23,413.10. Ray proposed using our money to purchase an easement on Steve Robertson’s land. Mead Cadot of the Harris Center offered to help.
